2016 SFAABC Scholarship Recipients

The 2016 Stephen F Austin Athletic Booster Club was very pleased to award a total of $6,000 to eight very deserving senior students. The scholarship funding doubled from 2015 due to our AMAZING corporate and personal donors in addition to the Booster Club funding.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Versabar Inc, Marlin Commercial Contractors Inc, Mike Tate’s “99” Tire & Auto, Raising Cane’s Sugar Land, and The Hughes Family. for their respective scholarship donations and support of the Austin student athletes. Please support these businesses as they do their best to support us!

We had twenty outstanding applicants and were able to award eight scholarships which is a 40% award rate. Scholarships categories are as follows (Note: Gift amounts can vary annually as they are dependent upon the annual participation levels of the AHS Booster Club.):

• Two (2) $1,000 scholarships to be awarded to the top one (1) male and top one (1) female who apply.
• Two (2) $1,000 scholarships to be awarded to the next top two applicants who apply.
• Four (4) $500 scholarships to be awarded to the next best four (4) overall students that apply.

The application/review process consisted of the following :

• Applying students or families had to be an AHS Booster Club member with a minimum 2.5 GPA.
• Outside reviewers (not associated with the booster club/school) were selected to evaluate the student applications and select the winners.
• Applications are submitted with student ID numbers only ensuring anonymity to the reviewers.
• A formulated review/grading scale was utilized for the review process.
