The Dawgs moved to 1-1 on the year with their first victory of the season, a huge 11-8 victory over upstart Ridge Point on Tuesday at the Dawg Pen.
With the match in doubt, junior phenom Sydni Rowland rallied from a 3-6 deficit to beat Isabelle Venegas 8-6 to get the 10th and deciding point. It was one of those “high school sports moments” she won’t soon forget.
Captain Brandon Kwok added the finishing gravy to the victory dinner, with an impressive 8-5 win in his singles match at line 5.
We got the early 4-3 lead in doubles as Bo Wilson and My2 Ganesh won line 1 as did captain Lauryn Reyes and Ria Devakottai. Line 2 boys team of Juan Forero and Kwok won a clutch battle, winning a 10-8 super tiebreaker. And in line 3 doubles on the girls side, Rowland and Angel Li cruised 6-1, 7-5.
Get ready for a busy tennis week as we travel to Travis on Tuesday before heading to Galveston for three matches at the Remembering Ike Tournament.
