2017-18 AHS Scholarship Recipients
The 2018 Austin High School Athletic Booster Club was very pleased to award a total of $6,150 to seven very deserving senior students. Our generous corporate donors and the Booster Club made these scholarships possible.
We would like to extend our gratitude to Marlin Commercial Contractors, Inc., Mike Tate’s “99” Tire & Auto, Raising Cane’s – Sugar Land, and Petro Amigos Supply Inc, Aetna Insurance/The Castro Family, and Marathon Oil for their respective scholarship donations and support of the Austin student athletes. Please support these businesses as they do their best to support us!
We had twenty-two outstanding applicants and were able to award nine scholarships, which resulted in a 41% award rate! Scholarship categories are as follows:
- Two (2) $1,000 scholarships awarded to the top male and top female who apply.
- One (1) $1,000 scholarship awarded to the next top applicant who applies.
- One (1) $650 scholarship awarded to the next top applicant who applies.
- Five (5) $500 scholarships awarded to the next best four overall students that apply.
Note: Scholarship amounts vary annually, as they are dependent upon the annual participation levels of the AHS Booster Club.
The application/review process consisted of the following :
- Applying students had to be an AHS Booster Club member with a minimum 2.5 GPA.
- Outside reviewers (not associated with the booster club/school) evaluate the student applications and select the winners.
- Applications are submitted with student ID numbers only ensuring anonymity to the reviewers.
- A formulated review/grading scale was utilized for the review process.
